The JabuVit BIO chia seeds come from Mexico. For more than 5,000 years the chia plant, which is a member of the Labiatae family, has been cultivated in South and Central America. Translated from the language of the Mayas, "Chia” means "strength”. Right up until today the chia seeds have been valued for their wide-ranging possible uses and their nutrients, and have developed in this country into a trendy superfood.

They are considered true powerhouses of nature because they have a high nutrient density. Along with minerals they provide fibres and essential fatty acids such as, for example, the omega-3 fatty acids. With a daily intake they can contribute to the maintenance of the normal blood cholesterol.
When soaked in water the chia seeds form a gel-like structure which can be used in numerous recipes such as, for example, those for raw breads or puddings.
