Calcium for strong bones
In terms of quantity calcium is the largest single mineral found in the body – the weight of calcium the body contains may even be up to one kilogram. 99 % of which is found in the skeletal structure and in the teeth. Calcium serves to stabilise the bones and lends strength to bones and the teeth. It is also an important constituent in the muscles and the nerve activity. When there is a calcium deficiency, calcium is increasingly extracted from the bones as they function as a calcium reserve store. This may lead to instability of the bones.
